An interactive look at our industry’s financial impact

This week, the We Work For Health coalition released new maps that look at the economic impact the biopharmaceutical industry has on vendors and suppliers in three states: Texas and our neighboring states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

For the purpose of this report, vendors and suppliers are defined as companies that provide services or supplies to another company. The relationships between vendors and suppliers who do business with America’s biopharmaceutical companies are reflected in the maps linked below, and they provide geographic data for vendor relationships whose monetary value totals more than $100 in 2010.

Here’s a look at the financial impact in each of the three states:

Texas: 6,518 vendor relationships, accounting for $2.1 billion in spending. See fact sheet here and interactive map here.

Pennsylvania: 14,350 vendor relationships, accounting for $8.5 billion in spending. See fact sheet here and interactive map here.

New Jersey: 13,217 vendor relationships, accounting for $8.8 billion in spending. See fact sheet here and interactive map here.

Take some time to peruse the maps. You can see the financial impact by the area of each state, including congressional districts.

Additionally, here is a look at the economic impact our industry had on the United States in 2008.
