Employees at AstraZeneca’s Newark, Del., supply site had the opportunity to hear firsthand from a patient as well as from AstraZeneca commercial leaders about the importance of their roles in manufacturing ARIMIDEX® (anastrozole) Tablets.
The patient, a spouse of a colleague at the Newark supply site, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, gave a real-life account of how ARIMIDEX makes a difference in one person’s life and thanked the employees.
“What you do here really matters,” said the patient. “There are patients at the end of the supply chain and they are very grateful for what you do. I know because I’m one of them.”
“Hearing a patient share a personal journey, which includes a medicine I help make, is a compelling reminder for why I come to work every day,” said Buddy Empson, Process Operator for ARIMIDEX, AstraZeneca Newark supply site. “It’s gratifying to know that my work makes a real difference to patients.”
Steve Davis, Executive Director, Foundation Brands, and Demetrius Thear, HCP Brand Leader, AstraZeneca were also on hand to thank the employees who are helping bring the ARIMIDEX Direct program to life. Spurred in part by patients calling the Information Center asking how they could get the brand ARIMIDEX more affordably, AstraZeneca introduced ARIMIDEX Direct in November 2011, which allows eligible patients to receive ARIMIDEX delivered to their homes for $40 a month, including shipping and handling.
ARIMIDEX is a registered trademark of the AstraZeneca group of companies.
