Walking around the world
More than 5,000 AstraZeneca employees across the globe are competing in the Global Corporate Challenge, the world’s largest workplace health initiative.
For 111 days, our employees will record their daily activity, convert it to steps and take a virtual journey around the world.
Last year, AstraZeneca participants walked a total of 4,260,605,619 steps (walk, cycle, and swim steps) – the equivalent of more than 7.2 trips to the moon.
More importantly, 40 percent reported an increase in their overall health and well being, 38 percent felt they were able to handle stress better, and 40 percent reported an average weight loss of nine pounds.
So who’s in the lead? The AstraZeneca teams with the most steps logged so far are based in Belgium and Sweden, and the top U.S. team hails from Boston. However, there is plenty of time for others to “step up” as the competition continues through September.
Each step brings our employees closer to better health, which is good for them and good for our business.
