AZ named a national bike friendly business
AstraZeneca was recently named a Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists, receiving the bronze level designation based on efforts to promote cycling as a healthy activity and an alternate form of transportation.
“AstraZeneca supports cycling as a healthy way for employees to exercise and as a means of transportation to work,” said Jennifer Keil, Manager, AstraZeneca Health Promotion and Program Delivery. “It not only helps employees maintain a healthy lifestyle but also helps reduce our environmental impact.”
AstraZeneca offers employees many cycling-related benefits including:
- Free use of fitness center locker room facilities
- Bike racks placed throughout campus
- A company-sponsored cycling club
- Hosting on-site cycling workshops
- Annual Bike to Work Week activities
- Sponsorships for employees to attend local charity cycling events
AstraZeneca also has worked with the Delaware Greenways project to design a bike and walking path surrounding AstraZeneca’s Wilmington, Del., campus and nearby area to enable cyclists to commute more easily.
The League of American Bicyclists promotes bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation, and works through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America. The League represents the interests of America’s 57 million bicyclists, including its 300,000 members and affiliates. Learn more.
