AstraZeneca employees are ‘Shaping Up’
AstraZeneca’s US business is encouraging our employees to Shape Up – in the health sense.
Over the last few months, we have rolled out a wellness program targeted on prevention activities that is designed to create a healthier workforce. The program focuses on weight management, physical activity and emotional well-being.
The key components of the program for employees include the following steps, all of which are optional and confidential:
Know your numbers: Employees can participate in a free health screening at several convenient times and locations in order to gauge their health status by obtaining an accurate measurement of various health measures.
Assess your risks: An annual health assessment is offered to provide employees with a clear view of their potential health risks. The numbers they obtain from their screening and the questions they answer about their daily health in the assessment inform them of their overall health status and provide suggested actions they can take to maintain or improve their health.
Take action: new programs were introduced this year for employees who want to improve their health including:
- A wellness coach who meets with employees on a variety of health and wellness topics.
- Weight Watchers is now available on-site at our Wilmington headquarters, online, and in the community, at a reduced rate for employees.
- ‘Shape Up,’ a new interactive social media website was unveiled today for employees to track their health and fitness progress and challenge each other.
- The Wilmington on-site gym membership fees were waived for employees for one month to support the wellness program.
We’ll have updates on the program here at AZ Health Connections in the coming months.
